Below are last month’s lists of “sold” and “pending/Back-up” properties for the Big Bear area.  As you can see, numbers continue to be strong for sales and escrows and the inventory has dropped further to only 545 single family residences for sale in the Big Bear Valley. As winter approaches, this number will almost certainly drop even further, especially given the strong number of sales.  That means we only have about one month left of “optimum buying conditions” (relatively higher supply and lower demand), until the slopes open back up around mid-November.

Below are two recent articles regarding improvements in the Bear Mountain and Snow Summit areas.  The first details some of Mammoth’s plans for its first full season of ownership (up until now, it has basically all been speculation and rumor, with the exception of the 4-mountain “Cali4nia pass” that was unveiled last year).  As it states in the article, the new Snow Park and restaurants “are part of the $2M+ capital improvement campaign, which includes new dining experiences, off-hill amenities, and infrastructure improvements to one of the world’s most advanced snow-making systems”.  In addition, there was an article in the Grizzly (our local newspaper) yesterday, reporting that the plans for the new permanent location of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo (aka, Moonridge Zoo) have finally been approved.  As we’ve been saying for some time now, all of these improvement in the Moonridge area (along with the forthcoming Ratbun Creek Hiking and Biking Trail Project, make for even more year-round activities), making the expectation for additional appreciation even more exciting, especially in the Moonridge area!
