November 2014 Big Bear Real Estate “Sold” and “Pending” Properties Lists/Mammoth “Merger” Update
Hi folks!
I hope everyone is drying out from the last couple of days. Because it was a warm-water storm (“Pineapple Express”), we got mostly rain up here; but we’re not complaining because it was great for the Lake (up over half a foot just this week)! Below are the monthly lists of “Sold” and “Pending/Back-up” (in escrow) Big Bear properties. Even though it was a short month because of the holiday, we had 117 properties sold and almost 200 more in escrow as we enter our busy winter selling season!
117 Sold:

There is lots of excitement and speculation about the new development that the Mammoth purchase should be bringing in the near future. Here’s an excerpt from a recent (December 2nd) article in Los Angeles Daily News (the “bolding” was done by me):
“Which makes Mammoth Mountain’s $38 million acquisition of Bear Mountain and Snow Summit stand out. Overnight, it created one of the nation’s largest ski companies — one that is expected to draw 2 million visitors per year. “Mammoth has always been the natural long-term fit for the Big Bear family,” said Dick Kun, president of Big Bear Mountain Resorts, at the time the deal was announced in late September. Customers seem to agree. Bear and Snow Summit collectively host nearly 800,000 visits every winter, and about half of those guests also have carved up the slopes at Mammoth at least once in the past two years.
That percentage may rise thanks to the new Cali4nia pass, which allows access to both of the Big Bear resorts along with Mammoth and June mountains. It was the most substantial initiative the company announced for this season, but Gregory hints that more is on the way. Much more.
“We’re working with our planning and development consultants and asking, ‘What can we do at all four resorts that will take care of market demands for the next 20 years?’ ” he said.
For starters, that means lift-system and base-facility improvements along with new restaurants at each location. At Mammoth, plans also call for a new hotel and base lodge near Eagle Express/Chair 15, redevelopment of the Main Lodge, and new projects at the Village and around the Sierra Star Golf Course. In Big Bear, the deal included what he called “a significant amount” of developable real estate.”
Have a great weekend!
