Mammoth Buys Big Bear Resorts for $38M/What’s Up this Weekend
In case you missed it (and in case you need another reason why now is a great time to buy/own in Big Bear), it was just announced yesterday that the owners of Mammoth Mountain finally signed the deal to buy both Bear Mtn and Snow Summit for $38M! The deal has been in the works for quite a while and had been looked at by several large buyers over the last year (including Vail and Disney); but it was finally purchased by the owners of Mammoth Mountain. In addition to the recent grant for the Rathbun Creek project in Moonridge, this is expected to be a HUGE potential boom for the whole area, but especially for real estate prices in the areas around Bear Mtn and Snow Summit. Mammoth also just announced a new “Cali4nia” season pass, which will be good for Mammoth Mountain, June Mountain, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain, and should bring a whole new crop of tourists, renters, and buyers to the Big Bear area! Along with a new crop of visitors, the expected development potential is enormous. As you can read in the LA Times article below: “Still, the slopes may not be the main focus of the deal. Mammoth Mountain’s biggest investors are resort developers who already have plans to build on the land around the newly acquired Southern California ski resorts.”

Below is a link to this weekend’s “What’s Up at 7000ft”. Highlights this week include the continuing 44th Annual Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest, Big Bear Lake’s 5th Annual Blues for the Zoo Concert, the 11th Annual Hot Dawgz & Handrails Event, North Shore Half Marathon/10K/5K, and Aaron’s Big Bass Championship Tournament. Hot Dawgz and Handrails always offers the lowest prices of the year on season passes; but this year, they will also be offering the new Cail4nia pass, with no blackout dates, no limits and no reason not to enjoy the best of both worlds for only$689 for adults!
Have a great weekend!
